![]() ResponsiveVoice can help make your website WCAG 2.0 compliant, especially for people who are print disabled, and those who suffer from a variety of impediments including dyslexia, vision impairment, and quadriplegia. Most legislature refers to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 – and in particular their AA level – as the sensible set of guidelines to follow, until official legislation covers all content published on the web. #TEXT TO SPEECH ISPEECH CODE#Each state has its own set of guidelines (in the United Kingdom, for instance, they were established with the Equality Act of 2010, and Web Accessibility standards were defined through BS 8878:2010, the Web Accessibility Code of Practice), but for online content next to no state has worked out the details. AccessibilityĪccessibility guidelines are here to stay, to create websites and apps that are better for everyone. The two female voices sound very similar, so that users can have a consistent experience on platforms that are officially supported, but also on those that are not. #TEXT TO SPEECH ISPEECH ANDROID#The fallback voice is female, and is used in the Android default browser, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera. The UK English Female voice is also used in browsers that do not natively support both versions, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera. ResponsiveVoice UK English text to speech (both male and female) is supported natively in Chrome desktop, Safari, and iOS. Chrome on Android does support UK English Male in the operating system, but it is not accessible to the browser, so ResponsiveVoice falls back to UK English Female as the best case available. ResponsiveVoice gets you an all-in-one, affordable and pain-free solution to integrate text to speech with a UK English accent, one that only weighs 14kB and solves the myriad problems speech synthesis entails, which include (but unfortunately are not limited to) per-character costs, having to initialise the speech engine after page load, timing delays between API calls, speech rate problems, it’s a mess we chose to tidy up so you don’t have to! UK English text to speech with ResponsiveVoice Compatibility All in all, this app is a definite keeper for me.UK English text to speech needs good technology to work well, but that technology is difficult to come by, and it’s always a pain to implement. I haven't experienced having to have an 'account' yet. The only way to use it without, is with the saved phrases. ![]() It is also notable that you cannot use this app unless you have an internet connection. The description says that it can read emails, but either I'm really slow witted, or it doesn't do that. Sometimes I forget, & that is just a big hot mess :) it would also be nice if the phrases saved in alphabetical order in addition to the order entered, as it saves them now. I hate having to select everything & delete. The only thing that could make this app better, is if I could push a button to delete out all of what I had previously written. The voices are among the most realistic I've heard. I like the ability to save often-used phrases. Until now! I am so grateful for this app that allows me to communicate again without playing charades (which my family is horrible at) Even if it does takes me a bit longer now than actually speaking. In the meantime, I have 4 kids and an amazing husband who have no idea what I'm saying. Hopefully, it's use will come back on its own. I am not supposed to use it for a while to help it heal. ![]() During the surgery, one of my voice box nerves became paralyzed.
